Through her eyes: A daughter's Father's Day interview

Published: 12 June 2025
This Father's Day, I asked my daughter a few simple questions about her dad, and her answers are heartwarming to read. Through her eyes, we get to glimpse the magic that exists between her bond with her dad.
What is your favourite thing to do with Dad?
"Going for walks at dusk by the sea."
Faith loves the way the sky turns pink, her favourite colour, as the sun sets. Exploring rock pools, hunting for shells in the rocks and walking together as the day winds down – it's their special time together. Quiet, beautiful and full of wonder in her eyes.
How does Dad make you feel loved?
"By doing crazy silly things in the house with me, our random bedtime chats and hugs."
There is a kind of magic in the silly dances, the spontaneous living room adventures and the whispered conversations before sleep. It's those everyday moments that love speaks the loudest.
What word or sign reminds you of Dad?
"The ASL [American Sign Language] sign for 'I love you', and we both put our hands together to make a heart using the sign."
This is something only the 2 of them share. A silent language that says everything. Their heart hand sign is more than a gesture – it's their own secret way of saying "I'm always here, I love you".

If Dad was a superhero, what would his power be?
"Spiderman powers, so that he can carry me and swing me through the towns and countryside!"
To her, Dad is already a hero, but giving him webs and super strength just adds a little more fun to her dream.
If you could give Dad anything, what would it be?
"A Maine Coon cat with 2 different coloured eyes – just like me."
Because love often shows up in the most thoughtful details. Something unique, beautiful and just a little bit wild – just like them both.
There's something special about seeing the world through your child's eyes. This Father's Day, we're celebrating the silly, the sweet, the super and everything in-between.
Happy Father's Day to the dads who make the world brighter – one bedtime hug, sunset walk and silly dance at a time.
