Hearing aids and implants

Many deaf children and young people use hearing technology such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. If your child has a hearing loss or has been identified as deaf, learning about the different types of hearing technology and how they work can be confusing.

Here we explain the difference between hearing aids and implants, to help you understand the technology and make the right choices for your child. For more information about other helpful technology available for deaf children and young people, see our assistive technology section.
