Working with Deaf Children and Young People
This online learning course for anyone who works with deaf children and wants to learn more about deafness.
This module is an introduction to deafness. It's designed to provide practical information about different types of deafness, basic communication methods and different technology deaf children may use.
You'll get examples of real life communication challenges, an insight into deaf culture, and the opportunity to learn some basic sign language.

What you'll learn
By the end of this module you'll be able to:
- describe the different types of deafness and the impact on deaf children
- explain the different types of communication methods used by deaf children
- demonstrate some basic British Sign Language (BSL) and fingerspelling
- name a range of technologies available to deaf children
