This factsheet is for parents explaining Education, Health and Care needs assessments and EHC Plans. It will be relevant to parents if:

  • your child already has a statement of special educational needs or an EHC plan
  • the local authority is carrying out an EHC needs assessment of your child
  • your child does not have a statement or EHC plan, but you believe that the local authority needs to carry out a needs assessment
