A Parent's Guide to Education, Health and Care needs assessments and EHC Plans (England)

This factsheet is for parents explaining Education, Health and Care needs assessments and EHC Plans. It will be relevant to parents if:

• your child already has a statement of special educational needs or an EHC plan
• the local authority is carrying out an EHC needs assessment of your child
• your child does not have a statement or EHC plan, but you believe that the local authority needs to carry out a needs assessment
• you have a very young child who has not yet started nursery or school but you believe they are going to need additional support.
