We support early years professionals working with children with all types and levels of hearing loss, including glue ear. We can help you to recognise the signs of hearing loss and support children’s communication and learning.

Free e-learning

We have free e-learning modules to support your work with deaf children, which take from 10 to 60 minutes to complete.

Introduction to Deaf Awareness - CPD accredited

This 15-minute module will explain some of the challenges deaf people face when communicating with hearing people. It also includes practical tips about lip-reading, fingerspelling and British Sign Language (BSL).

Introduction to Temporary Hearing Loss - CPD accredited

This 15-minute module will help you understand how temporary hearing loss, often caused by glue ear, can impact young children. The module includes practical suggestions for supporting children in your care.

Supporting Children with a Suspected Hearing Loss in Early Years

This module will help you to confidently identify signs of hearing loss. You'll know how and where to signpost families for further support and how to carry out a basic assessment of a listening environment.
