Isla's review: Seafire

Our fantastic reviewer Isla tells what she thought of this exciting book full of pirates and adventure!

Seafire is an amazing story about a crew of female pirates led by a captain called Caledonia. They try to escape the clutches of Aric Athair, a warlord who controls the sea with an army of blood-thirsty soldiers.

In the beginning, Caledonia returns to her ship to find her whole family have been attacked by Aric Athair. Four years later, after rebuilding a crew, she sets out to seek revenge on Aric Athair and search for her lost brother, while battling against the deadly sea. She has one goal - to stay alive!

I love how the plot evolves as you read on, and I especially love Hime who is the healer on the ship and uses sign language to communicate. As the story unravels, we see more about Hime’s past and how she came to be on the ship. Although Hime is a side character, I love the relationship she has with her girlfriend Amina and how the two communicate with each other. I also enjoy the fact that the others on the crew have learned sign language to communicate with her.

I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for something dystopian and adventurous.
