Good support in the early years will help deaf children reach their full potential. Our one day workshop will help you prepare for and support deaf children in your care.
Training overview
This CPD accredited online training has been designed to help you fully include deaf children in the life of your early years setting.
During this training you will learn about deafness, what this means in early years and how you can adapt your practice.
You'll leave feeling inspired and confident in changes you can make to your setting to be fully inclusive. Changes which will often be beneficial to all children in your setting.

This training is made up of 2 modules: 1x e-learning module and 1x live workshop.
Location and cost
Each event will be held online on Zoom and costs £40. Ticket sales will close 1 week before the start of the event.

As a member of the National Deaf Children's Society, you are entitled to a discount on our training events and conferences.
If your organisation is signed up to our Educational membership you are entitled to a 50% discount.
If you are an individual Professional member you are entitled to a 10% discount.

Is this training CPD accredited?
Yes, this online training is CPD accredited and will equate to 3 CPD hours / points, certified by CPD UK. Delegates who complete this training will receive a certificate of attendance.
Can I join using any device?
You can access these workshops on any compatible device. We would recommend you join via your computer or laptop to fully contribute through the day. You can join using a phone or tablet if necessary, however we cannot guarantee that all of the functions will work on these devices.
Do I need to do any prep before attending the live webinar?
Yes, you will need to complete the mandatory e-learning module prior to attending the live online workshop. This will be available on demand and will take roughly 1 hour to complete.
You will be expected to complete both modules to complete the training.
We also ask that you complete a survey before attending, to gauge your confidence and knowledge levels.
Details of all of these will be sent to you in the pre-event information email, prior to the live event.
Do I need to book my own communication support?
No. If you require a BSL interpreter or captions please let us know and we will book it for you.
What if I need to cancel?
If you are unable to attend and need to cancel your place, please contact us at [email protected]. Refunds will be available as below.
If you cancel:
- 7 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost
- 8-14 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost
- 15 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.
Please note, if you cancel your place you will be cancelling both modules. Cancellations and refunds are not available for individual modules.
Do I need to be a member?
No, however if you'd like to become a professional member you can join for free. Our membership allows you to join our community of professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK.

Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?
Yes, however you must notify us in advance, at least 3 days before the workshop takes place via [email protected].
Can I share my log in details with a friend of colleague to join?
No. The log in details are for 1 person only.
There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the purchased tickets).
If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the webinar.
I can't find a suitable date, what other options are there?
We can also deliver a bespoke workshop package, tailored to your organisation's needs and delivered online at a time that suits you.
