This will be an informal session, giving you the opportunity to speak with technology staff at the National Deaf Children’s Society about the best apps and software to support your work with deaf young people.
Our Technology Research Officer, Kim Hagen, will be speaking about apps for adding captions to short videos you may want to share with your pupils and you will have the opportunity to ask questions of the technology team.
Who is this webinar for?
This webinar is designed for all professionals working with deaf young people, who are providing digital content and online learning or activities.
How to join
This webinar will be on Zoom, which you can access on any computer, lap-top, phone or tablet.
When you first join, you may be prompted to download Zoom which only takes a few seconds to do with a normal broadband connection.
Once you have booked your place, further joining instructions will be provided closer to the event date.

Will this event cover what I need?
This is an information session to find out tips on captioning apps and software that can make your video content accessible to deaf children and young people and can facilitate meetings with deaf colleagues.

Do I need to be a member?
No, however if you'd like to become a professional member you can join for free. Our membership allows you to join our community of professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK.

Do I need to book my own communication support?
No. We will have captions as standard, however if you require an interpreter please let us know and we will book it for you.
Note: The deadline for requesting an interpreter is Friday 3 July. We can not guarantee being able to secure an interpreter after this date.
How much does it cost?
£10 per delegate, payable via credit/debit card only.
Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?
Yes, however you must notify us in advance, at least 5 days before the workshop takes place via [email protected].
Can I share my log in details with a friend of colleague to join?
No. The log in details are for 1 person only.
There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the purchased tickets).
If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the webinar.
Do I need to do any prep before attending?
What if I need to cancel?
If you cancel:
- 7 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost
- 8-14 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost
- 15 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.
