E-learning

Our e-learning modules are designed as an option for distance learning, available anywhere and at any time. They provide a range of interactive learning methods while giving instant access to additional resources and services.

We have two types of modules available:

  • Mini modules: These are brief introduction modules that take roughly 10 minutes to complete
  • Full modules: These are all encompassing training modules that can take roughly 1 hour to complete.

Some of our e-learning modules are free of charge and some have a fee applied - this will be stated on the course overview.

COMING VERY SOON! The Impact of Bullying on Deaf Children and Young People
We have created two FREE e-learning modules to help professionals gain confidence and competence in identifying and responding to bullying of deaf children and young people. These interactive modules will equip you with the essential knowledge to spot potential bullying and fully support deaf children and young people if they experience it.

COMING VERY SOON! Introduction to Temporary Hearing Loss
This FREE e-learning mini module will help you understand the temporary hearing loss that can affect children, often caused by glue ear. It will provide suggestions to adapt your practice to support children with it and is particularly appropriate for all mainstream practitioners. It is the perfect place to start learning about temporary hearing loss and only takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Introduction to Deaf Awareness - CPD accredited
This FREE e-learning mini-module will provide you with better awareness of some of the challenges that deaf people experience when trying to communicate with hearing people. You will leave being able to name some of the things you can do to make lip-reading easier. You will also get to learn some basic finger spelling.

Deaf-friendly Activities
This module is designed to teach you simple adaptations to ensure activities or services are deaf-friendly and inclusive. You learn how to identify the different types of communications deaf children and young people use.

Working with Deaf Children and Young People
This module will enable you to identify the different types of deafness and the impact they have on children and young people. You'll be able to describe the different types of communication used and suggest different types of technology to support deaf children and young people.

Supporting Children with a Suspected Hearing Loss in Early Years
This module will enable you to confidently identify signs of a child with hearing loss. You'll know how and where to signpost families for further support and carry out a basic assessment of a listening environment.

This module is an introduction to the social care needs of a deaf child. By the end, you will be able to identify where additional social care support may be needed and describe what you to do if you have any concerns.

Deaf Awareness for Careers Advisors (Wales only)
This module will provide you with an introduction to deaf awareness and will help you ensure your sessions are accessible for deaf young people. It will also outline some key points to consider when providing careers advice to deaf young people.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for any arts, sports or leisure providers / activity leaders, youth clubs or anyone who will be providing activities for deaf children or young people.


How long will this course take?

This course should take around 1 hour to complete, although you are welcome to work through it at your own pace. You will have 30 days to complete the course before it expires.


How can I pay for this e-learning module?

Payments can be made through PayPal or using a debit card. You do not need a PayPal profile to complete your purchase. PayPal is simply the system we use to process payments.
